Sri Lanka Day 2026 Brings Food, Culture and Crafts Together in Auckland
A day of Sri Lankan food, cultural performances, crafts and family activities is coming to Auckland on Sunday 25 October. Sri Lanka Day 2026, organised by the New Zealand Sri Lanka Foundation, will bring the community together at Wesley Community Centre, with stalls and activities planned from 9am to 3pm.
The event is billed as an entertaining family day, with Sri Lankan food, clothing and crafts for sale, cultural dance and music, and activities for children. Visitors will also have the opportunity to meet travel, insurance and property agents.
For Sri Lankans in New Zealand, and others interested in Sri Lankan culture, the gathering offers a chance to enjoy familiar traditions, discover local businesses and spend time with the wider Sri Lankan community in Auckland.
Food, crafts and performances in one place
The organiser’s listing describes a varied programme, bringing together food, clothing and crafts alongside cultural performances. The stalls are an opportunity to browse and purchase items, while dance and music performances will add a live cultural element to the day.

The listing also invites visitors to meet travel, insurance and property agents. Having these services represented at a community event can give attendees a convenient way to make enquiries and connect with providers who wish to reach local families and businesses.
Children can look forward to face painting, a bouncy castle and other activities. These attractions are expected to make the day welcoming for families attending with younger children, as well as for visitors who want to enjoy the performances and stalls.

A gathering for Auckland’s Sri Lankan community
New Zealand’s Sri Lankan community numbers more than 18,000 people nationwide. A community day in Auckland can bring together people with different backgrounds and generations, while giving visitors a way to share food, music and cultural traditions. The 2023 Census-based reporting also recorded substantial growth in the Sri Lankan population in New Zealand over the previous decade. Read more about the community’s growth.
The New Zealand Sri Lanka Foundation was established in 1998. Its stated aims include supporting unity and maintaining cultural links with Sri Lanka. The Foundation says it has been a registered charitable organisation since 2016. Sri Lanka Day is one of the community events through which such connections can be celebrated in New Zealand.
For local businesses, the event also provides a platform to introduce products and services to the community. The organiser has invited Sri Lankan businesses to reserve stalls and says that places are limited. Businesses considering taking part are encouraged to enquire early.
