Around 200 MAXXIS dealers and their families gathered at the Shangri-La Ballroom in Colombo on Friday 23 October 2026 to celebrate achievement across Sri Lanka’s tyre retail network. The evening opened with the lighting of a traditional oil lamp and culminated in the announcement of Wijaya Motors & Tyre House (Pvt) Ltd as Winner of the Year 2025.

The ceremony, titled “MAXXIS Champions of Champions 2025”, recognised dealers for their contribution to the MAXXIS network. Sixty dealers were evaluated for the awards, with businesses from Colombo and Kelaniya taking the top three places.

MAXXIS is an international tyre manufacturer headquartered in Taiwan. The annual awards night brought together the brand’s Sri Lankan retail network and its local partner, Tyre House Group, for an evening of recognition and healthy competition.

Wijaya Motors & Tyre House (Pvt) Ltd, Colombo 14, was named Winner of the Year 2025. Its Managing Director, Mr Sajith Sankalana, received the trophy from Mr Kenny, jointly with Mr Lesley Fonseka and Mr Sunil Fonseka of Tyre House Group.

The recognition placed Wijaya Motors at the top of a field of 60 MAXXIS dealers evaluated for the awards. The published coverage did not specify individual scoring criteria, but the results recognised performance across the dealer network.

Second place went to U&H Wheels Service Pvt. Ltd, Colombo 02. Its Managing Director, Mr Wasantha Perera, received the second-place trophy. Third place was awarded to Mount Wheel Tyre Center, Kelaniya, represented by Mr Dulanjan Perera.

Why dealer recognition matters to the tyre industry

Tyre dealers are an important link between manufacturers and motorists. They help customers find suitable products and access retail and service support. For that reason, recognition across a dealer network can provide an opportunity to acknowledge the businesses and teams contributing to the customer experience.

For drivers, confidence in tyre selection and service matters. Tyres are an essential part of vehicle safety and performance, and customers often rely on knowledgeable local retailers to guide their choices. A connected retail network also gives an international manufacturer a direct relationship with customers in local markets.

The MAXXIS awards night brought that relationship into focus. The manufacturer’s representatives travelled from Taiwan, while Tyre House Group hosted the occasion alongside Sri Lankan dealers and their families. The awards provided a public moment to recognise the dealer network and celebrate achievement within Sri Lanka’s tyre industry.

A celebration of the people behind the network

The “Champions of Champions” theme reflected the evening’s focus on competition and achievement. With 60 dealers evaluated and around 200 attendees present, the event recognised the results while bringing together businesses and families connected to the MAXXIS network.

Wijaya Motors & Tyre House’s top award was a significant achievement for the Colombo 14 dealer. The second- and third-place awards also acknowledged U&H Wheels Service and Mount Wheel Tyre Center for their performance in the programme.

For the wider tyre retail sector, the awards night offered an opportunity to celebrate dedication across the trade. Strong dealer networks depend on the everyday work of businesses serving customers, maintaining standards and building trust. The recognition of the winners was also a reminder of the many dealers contributing to the industry.

Its central message was clear: the strength of the tyre business rests not only on the products manufacturers make, but also on the retailers who bring them to customers across the island.
