When you are stressed, or in frightful situations, the adrenaline level in your blood is raised. That makes your heart beat faster, and your lungs breathe more efficiently. The HMS Ceylon was built in Glasgow – by Des Kelly   It seems that our esteemed contributor to e’Lanla, Keith Bennett was somewhat surprised to realize that there was indeed a Ship named after our Island in the sun. Well Keith, there was such a Ship, and also, before the Royal Ceylon Navy was “born”, some of our worthy Sailors actually served on her. These individuals went under the title of the Ceylon Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve (C.R.N.V.R.), and most of them transferred to the Royal Ceylon Navy, which was established on the 9th of December, 1950, after the Navy Act was passed by the British, for the formation of what I always prefer to call “The Senior Force”, or the Royal Ceylon Navy. A few years later, the Royal Ceylon Navy was presented with our first real Ship (also from Britain), a Minesweeper, originally named H.M.S. Flying Fish, ...

Mahinda Rajapaksa: Sri Lankan PM resigns amid economic crisis   Photo Source: indianexpress.com Source:bbc.com Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has resigned amid mass protests at the government’s handling of the economic crisis, officials say. Since demonstrations erupted ...

“PARADISE REGAINED” – by Des Kelly Enough is enough. Everybody realized, not too long ago, that Sri Lanka was indeed a Paradise well suited to her people in general. Then SOMETHING happened !, and it wouldn’t take Albert Einstein to figure out what it was. The situation began to deteriorate from various angles, coming down to what could be called “Paradise Lost”. Now, one of their BEST Entertainers, my good friend Rukshan Perera sincerely wants to bring back this Paradise and because I was also born in “My Lovely Island Home”, I would love to join Rukshan BRING BACK PARADISE, just to see “PARADISE REGAINED”. Here’s hoping we can do this together, Ruki, Both of us still love out Motherland, and this will never change. Desmond Kelly. (Editor-in-Chief) e’Lanka. ...
